Creating Reading Posters

Technology is awesome because it is my tool to learn, research, create, and connect. November is Digital Writing Month and I want to delve deep into learning, researching, creating, and connecting with the challenge, #digiwrimo. I find learning, researching, and connecting fairly easy, but creating?

Sure I create blogs and vlogs and tweets…and…well…that’s it. I want to spend November creating digital things (I don’t really know what things yet) so I figured that I should start practicing now.

I used The Daily Create to begin my creating journey. The Daily Create is full of short creation prompts and longer creation assignments. I browsed the many intriguing prompts and assignments until I settled on one that I could use in the classroom:

Create a READ Poster

This was the assignment:

Since 1985, the American Library Association (ALA) has tried to sell reading books as cool by showing celebrities reading their favorite books…Experiment with this tradition, introduce a celebrity with a book who hasn’t been recognized yet, but should be. Or use the poster you create to poke fun at a public figure, or do something else all together. have fun.

Here is my creation! Drumroll please….

I had a blast creating this poster! I love that I was able to create something for my classroom. I’m really hoping students will find it funny and that it will encourage them to read!

I can’t wait for #digiwrimo because I know the creation challenge will make me a better learner, thinker, and creator.

Here’s to creation and innovation!
